Kathmandu: Wicketkeeper-batter Anil Kumar Sah has emerged as the most expensive cricketer at the auction for the inaugural season of the Nepal Premier League (NPL). Sah was signed by the Janakpur Bolts for Rs 1.5 million during the auction organized by the Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) on Sunday.
Sah, who had set a minimum bid of Rs 1 million, attracted interest from all eight teams. However, the Janakpur Bolts secured his services through a lucky draw, making him the only player sought by every franchise.
Other notable purchases include left-arm spinner Sagar Dhakal, who was signed by Pokhara Avengers for Rs 1.5 million, and Narayan Joshi, who joined the same team for Rs 1 million. Pratish GC and Lokesh Bam were both picked by Biratnagar for Rs 1.5 million each.
Sudurpaschim Royals acquired Arif Sheikh for Rs 1.5 million, while Rijan Dhakal was signed by Chitwan Rhinos for Rs 1 million. Dipesh Kandel joined Kathmandu for Rs 500,000, and Ritu Gautam was picked up by Karnali for Rs 500,000.
CAN reported that around 150 cricketers participated in the auction for the NPL, which will take place from November 30 to December 21 at TU Cricket Stadium.
